1.  Why do we have military customs and courtesies?
2.  What is the proper way to address a Junior, Senior or Advance Young Marine?

1.  Read BYM 6-1 
2.  Basic Young Marines only:  Prepare a 3 minute speech on a topic of your choice
3.  Junior Young Marines only:  Read Performance Objective 6 - Public Speaking BYM-6-1
4.  Junior Young Marines only:  Write on a separate sheet of paper a brief discussion on ways to avoid stage fright.
5.  Junior Young Marines only:  Prepare a 5 minute speech on a drug you have researched.
6.  Senior Young Marines only:  Read Performance Objective 6 - Public Speaking SYM-6-1
7.  Senior Young Marines only:  On a separate sheet of paper, prepare an essay on the topic of Public Speaking that includes discussion onf the principles of instruction, methods of instruction, preparing a lesson plan and the 5 types of verbal support.
8.  Senior Young Marines Only:  Prepare a lesson plan.  At January's drills, the training schedule will include Public Speaking, Military Customs and Courtesies, the Young Marine Creed and Obligation, First Aid - Preventing and Treating Cold Weather Injuries, How and What to Pack for A Cold Weather Encampment and Close Order Drill.   You will be assigned to prepare a lesson plan for one of these topics.
